Ownership that knows the rules
Barrister Beverages is owned by an attorney. That background shapes how we hold our companies: carefully, plainly, and with close attention to the law that governs every bottle and can.
Barrister Beverages is a holding company. It owns subsidiaries in brewing, distilling, cider, and non-alcoholic beverages, and it supports them with the legal, regulatory, and administrative work that a small producer often struggles to carry alone.
The company does not make beverages itself. Its subsidiaries do, under their own names and with their own teams.
Barrister Beverages is not a law firm and does not offer legal services to the public. Its owner’s legal experience informs how the company is run.
Support for each subsidiary
- Federal and state permitting, and keeping permits current
- Label and formula review before products go to market
- Excise tax reporting and recordkeeping discipline
- Contracts with distributors, suppliers, and service providers
- Trademark clearance and protection for brands and names
- Corporate governance, insurance, and risk management
Principles
Compliance comes first
Beverage alcohol is regulated at the federal, state, and often local level. We treat that framework as the foundation of the business, not an afterthought.
Clear structure
Each subsidiary is separately organized, with defined responsibilities and its own accountability. Plain structure makes for plain dealing with partners and regulators.
Makers lead the making
The people who brew, distill, and ferment decide what they make and how. Our role is to keep the business around them steady.
Responsible enjoyment
Our companies market only to adults of legal drinking age and encourage moderation in everything they produce and promote.
